IASIS set to work with Foreign and Commonwealth Office in UK and Worldwide
After discussions in London and Amsterdamy, IASIS has agreed to work with the Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO) with the goal of promoting safe travel for youth.
Young travellers are amongst the most likely demographic to find themselves in trouble overseas and both IASIS and the FCO share the desire to reduce these instances by a combination of prevention, risk management and, in the last instance, a good quality travel insurance.
The FCO’s Know Before you Go campaign was launched in 2001 and encourages travellers to research their destination fully, have a medical check-up before travel, organise travel documentation carefully, take sufficient emergency funds and buy a thorough travel insurance policy.
The successful promotion of these behaviours ought to make life easier for insurance companies (fewer claims), the travel industry (fewer costly incidents), the diplomatic community (less consular time spent helping travellers in distress), and, most importantly the young travellers themselves.
The FCO are planning to attend WYSTC 2009 and by happy coincidence, many confederation members have already signed up to the Know Before You Go Campaign.
